What We Loved About This School Year

By Brianna
School is over now it’s summer
Well , at first  school  was boring and dull
But  now I realize  school  can be cool
Sometimes  I  don’t like going to  school
But I have  friends to help me out  like
Jalyn  and Sanaya
Teachers can be fun
I love school and doing art
But more importantly summer is  fun
I’m going to miss my friends
But  I’ll see them next year
So school is out so let’s  get the party starting
So take off those school uniforms and get some regular
Clothes on because school is out

Cut Up Pop Song Poems!

This week for arts and crafts, we made our own songs by cutting and pasting the words to Whip My Hair by Willow Smith, Baby  by Justin Bieber, and Moment 4 Life by Nicki Minaj.(Without the Drake part, which has a lot of cursing.)

By Gueladio
Yeah soon as I hit the stage applause I’m hearing it
I whip my hair back and forth (whip it real good)
I’m gonna get more shine  in a little bit
when I was thirteen, I had my first love
am down and I feel like giving up
I whip it real hard, real hard, I whip it real hard
Keep my head up and know I’ll be fine
I whip my hair back and forth back

I Believe That Life is a Prize
By Monet

Life is my desire. Keep my head up I’ll be
fine, but no oth
er do it like I do it. I fly until
I reach the stars.

So don’t tell me nothing, I’m just tryna have fun
So keep the party jumping
Shake your haters off even how hard you
try.
I whip my hair back and forth
I whip my hair back and forth I keep the party
going. And I walk over and just whip it real hard.

I wish I could have this moment 'til the end
of time. Life is my goal doing everything I could possibly do.
Life!!

To Justin Bieber
By Laila

Baby whip your hair let it shine
more than a little bit my eyes shine
when you turn your swag on
Don’t let haters keep you off your grind.
So keep the party jumping
Gr-Gr-Greatness is what you’re on the brink of.

Love
By  Symphony
My mother cares and she love me and she
will be there. She treats me like baby, but I
don’t care. My mom told me to whip my hair ‘cause
a woman’s beauty is a woman’s hair. But I really
care when things get hard I just
shake them off. When my mom says she’s
going to do something she might not
do it now but later.

Heart to Heart
By Monet
my heart will not give up.
I feel like greatness has sprung through me.
So don’t worry about me. I’ll be fine.
Just shout whenever, I’ll spring up like a frog.
I’m here to let you know I’m here
with you through it all. I will not stop
my heart stops as long as love stops
then I won’t stop. So don’t think you
got rid of me. We are
heart to heart like we’re connected.
I’m just here to let you know this is
someone I won’t let go. You’re my number
one I’ll never stop thinking about you.

To My Father
By Ronnell

Nobody can come between us
You know I love you whenever I need anything
I can count on you
And we will never, ever, ever be apart
In this very moment, you’re a king
I’m not lucky I’m blessed to have
you as my father clap for the champ, you.
I couldn’t do anything without you
I wish I could have this moment 4 ever.
I love you father.

Dear Japan: 2011 Tsunami

Dear Japan:
We are so sorry for what you are going through. We hope you'll be successful in rebuilding. We wish you could come here so we could help you. We hope we can do a lot of things about it, like ship food and supplies and medicine. We should send money and help to the scientists. We can also bring doctors over and help find safe homes for adults and children. We support you by bringing fresh food and water. I hope your cities will be better by the water stopping. We are sorry that ships crashed into homes and I hope you the best. We hope you are safe.

Your friends in Philadelphia, PA,
Gueladio, Nazir, Angel, Deandre, Dasean, Anifah, Zoria, Samira, and Anthony

Color Poem Inspired by Daniel McGinn!

Our poem is inspired by Daniel McGinn's Performance of "The Color of Cody"! http://www.viddler.com/explore/pauldevlinproduction/videos/54/

Our Color Poem

by Jabari, KC, MC, and GDog
Red is for our blood that runs through us like perfect sense.

Green is for our land, our community and our feet that we use to stand and to smell the freshness of our energy.

Blue is fresh water that we drink that travels through our blood system and makes us all a beautiful family.

Pink is for the beautiful ladies out there. Every woman, lady, girl is beautiful. All men are beautiful and handsome.

Light-skinned people and dark-skinned people are beautiful no matter what.

It is the love and compassion for our people.
Yellow is the shineful light to guide our way so we can follow it.

People are the sun.

Turquoise is for all the workers who give us our money for our living.

Violet is for all the roses and plants and for the environment.

Brown is is for the black and white people not to separate from each other, for integrated love and life.
Orange is a word nothing rhymes with.

It's for the food we eat that makes us live for the rest of our lives and get strong like Barack Obama.

Black is passion for the present and the past.

It's for Martin Luther King, Jr, who helped us get together.
