Couplets for Spring!

Dear Spring,

Please come fast. We cannot wait until you come.
April is here now let's become

Easter bunnies.
Come on bunnies, let's run like honeys.

Come on spring, we wish you were here.
Go away beer, and you too, deer.

Bees fly, some flowers die.
So let's go for a motorcycle ride.

Easter is here, so let's go cheer.
Come on everybody, let's go outside, spring is near.

Come on, why don't you want to go, bear?
That's why we care, because you're here.

Come on rabbit, why are you jumpin' on me?
We are here so we can be we.

Spring is here, so let's go watch the flowers
to show we care.

Dear Japan: 2011 Tsunami

Dear Japan:
We are so sorry for what you are going through. We hope you'll be successful in rebuilding. We wish you could come here so we could help you. We hope we can do a lot of things about it, like ship food and supplies and medicine. We should send money and help to the scientists. We can also bring doctors over and help find safe homes for adults and children. We support you by bringing fresh food and water. I hope your cities will be better by the water stopping. We are sorry that ships crashed into homes and I hope you the best. We hope you are safe.

Wrong  Spring
By Queenie, Age 10
Spring is here.
but the trees are bare.
Birds don’t sing
and they’re not flying.
Instead they’re sleeping.
With still wings.
Snowmen are still alive,
and bees are in their hive.
There’s dark clouds in the sky,
ready to hail on I.
Is spring going to be like this all year long?
Oh, my calendar’s wrong.

Love is liking another person.
Foxes are furry.
Games are fun.
Kings are powerful.
Socks keep your feet warm.
I came from my mom.
Rocks are hard.
Shocks really hurt.
Rhyme Time
By  Qadir M.
I got that money, that bling
I got everything
People call me the king
A king that can rap and sing
I got a house made of gold
right on top of these hills
I never had to pay a dime
So I never got those bills
I love the spring rain
When I’m going to Maine
And when I go to Spain
I take a train

Want me to tell you
When push comes to shove

I don’t run, I fly
like a little white dove
I got a little orange fox
Which lives in a box
He chases bunnies that are hopping
and comes with me when I’m shopping
This is a Rhyme
That comes from the heart
This is my time.
To bring people closer and not rip them apart

What is Beautiful? Art From Our Fashion Show

Gueladio: Everyone in the fashion show was beautiful. Ms. Alani did a great job putting together the fashion show. Ms. Jane did a great job talking to the audience.

Rakiyah: Everybody was sparkling and glittering like the spotlight's on. I love fashion shows and talent shows. I want to be in the next one.

MC: The beautiful thing is when we all just dressed up and did the dancing and everyone was nice and kind.

Zoria: I think the fashion show was amazing and a big experience. All the spotlight was on us.

Brianna: Beautiful to me is talented and expressive. Beautiful is what you were made for. Beautiful is what are.

Rakiyah: Beautiful is made up to when you were born like a princess. The red carpet is laid out with the spotlights and charming bracelets.

Gueladio: Beautiful is red. Red is a campfire playing music.

MC: Beautiful is the sun and the light and the beautiful roses. It's the wonderful time that you had in the past.

Zoria: Beautiful is passionate. You're beautiful no matter what you look like, even if you're an old person.

Since you're beautiful, spread it all around, tell people that they're beautiful. Beautiful should take you to the next level of beautiful.
Rakiyah: My beautiful goal is to be nice in school, to not have detentions and suspensions.I will never upset my teacher because she will lose her voice if she hollers. I will be good to my mom so she won't have to yell and I won't be grounded.

MC: My beautiful goal is to wash the dishes and clean up the floor with the broom if my mom tells me to. I would love to go to Dorney Park and swim and go down the water slides.

Color Poem Inspired by Daniel McGinn!

Our poem is inspired by Daniel McGinn's Performance of "The Color of Cody"! http://www.viddler.com/explore/pauldevlinproduction/videos/54/

Our Color Poem

by Jabari, KC, MC, and GDog
Red is for our blood that runs through us like perfect sense.

Green is for our land, our community and our feet that we use to stand and to smell the freshness of our energy.

Blue is fresh water that we drink that travels through our blood system and makes us all a beautiful family.

Pink is for the beautiful ladies out there. Every woman, lady, girl is beautiful. All men are beautiful and handsome.

Light-skinned people and dark-skinned people are beautiful no matter what.

It is the love and compassion for our people.
Yellow is the shineful light to guide our way so we can follow it.

People are the sun.

Turquoise is for all the workers who give us our money for our living.

Violet is for all the roses and plants and for the environment.

Brown is is for the black and white people not to separate from each other, for integrated love and life.
Orange is a word nothing rhymes with.

It's for the food we eat that makes us live for the rest of our lives and get strong like Barack Obama.

Black is passion for the present and the past.

It's for Martin Luther King, Jr, who helped us get together.

Gueladio: "Do you think it's a great team?"
Ms. Jane: "Everyone does seem to be doing a great job working together."
Negus: "Yes, because they are working together."
Ms. Diamonique: "Yes, because people are cooperating."

Gueladio: "What is your favorite thing about the fashion club?"

Negus: "When people model."
Ms. Diamonique: "It's way entertaining!"

Movie Reviews: E.T: The Extra-Terrestrial

Armani:
E.T. said eeeeeeee-eeeeee-eeee.
The little girl was screaming.

Taymiyah:

E.T. seems loud. Boys are in a home, going to see what's going on outside. Their friend said there's something outside. Then the boy saw E.T. by himself. He went inside to tell what he saw but his mom and the rest of his family didn't believe him. Then he went outside and saw E. T. and got frightened. Then he didn't get frightened. The next day he said he was sick but he lied because he wanted to be with E.T. He showed E.T. around his house. E.T. got hungry so he gave him some food. Then he showed him to his family. They got scared and then they didn't get scared that much. Them E.T. said "B" and then he said "good." Then the girl taught him to say his name. Then E.T. said "Phone home." Then E.T. heard the mom reading to the boy's little sister."

Krystal:

P.S. I will point out bad stuff.

I think this movie is sorta funny. I like the parts where he ran and screamed. I also think it's dark, especially at night. This movie is wierd and has too much cussing. E.T.'s neck is really creepy.
