Poems Inspired by Nikki Giovanni's "Ego Tripping."

By Aicha

I’m the leaf of a tree
I’m the color of a butterfly
I’m as bright as the sun
I’m the beauty of a puppy
I’m the stars of the sky
                                                  I’m funny like a puppet

I’m beautiful like a cheetah

IM THE BEST…BY ISIAH

I’M THE BEST OF THE BEST BETTER THAN THE REST.
ONE TIME I BLUSHED SO HARD I MADE ROSES RED.
BLAH! I’M PICKY I’M PROBABLY MORE PICKY THE PHARAOHS IN ANCIENT  TIMES.
IF I’M FORCED TO EAT A FOOD I DON’T LIKE IT’LL TAKE  ME OVER ONE BILLION HOURS TO FINISH…(THAT’S A REALLY A HORRIBLE SECRET THAT I HAVE TOLD EVERYONE.)
I CAN SWEAT SO HARD THAT I FORMED THE ATLANTIC OCEAN.
I CAN BE AS GENTLE AS A FEATHER, BUT I CAN ALSO BE AS CLUMSY AS A SMURF.
LOOK…I’M SOOOOOOOO TALL  I COULD PROBABLY REACH PLUTO.

THIS POEM WAS SO LONG, BET IT’S SO LONG THAT  IT COULD ALSO REACH PLUTO,BUT IT’S ALL OVER THIS POEM WAS GOING ON FOR SIX DARN HOUR. YOU MUST BE BORED

My Own Inspiration
by Fiona
I was like a dry ice with no nice
I had no fire until I was tired
school was the same as yesterday
I wanted to go home early but I couldn’t
I wouldn’t.
I Made My Own YT Channel But I Didn’t Have Any Inspiration For It.
I Wanted To Make My Own Inspiration But I Couldn’t
I Was Wondering Why.
But Then I Realized, I Didn’t Have A Shine In Me
I Wanted To Become Like Everyone Else Who’s Shining Like A Star Above The Stars
A Talent,
A Balance,
I Was Unbalanced,
I Need An Impossible Challenge.

I May Not Be The Best
But That’s Not Very True
I Am Smart
I Am The Sun Of Living Things
I Am The Water Of The Earth
I Am Perfect
I Am The Surface Of You
I Am The Heart Of Everyone
I Am Awesome
I Am Small
But I Am Strong C:<
I Am Here Where Ever You Are
I Am A Cat
I Am The Stars Of The Night
I Am The Rain Of The Clouds
I’m Always You
But Now I Am…
A DINOSAUR!!!!

The Light
by Tijji W.
I am so awesome that I am the light that roams the earth
I light the good in people hearts I’m the one that
Defeats the hatred in people hearts the on that brings
Together families, I’m the laugh from the cries the hits to hugs and kisses
I’m the frowns to the smiles
The depressed to joy
It’s not hard to be   LIGHT
To be light you just need to be Caring, Friendly, and wise and if
You are any of those, what it means to be light
Just be YOU  J.
High School
by Anonymous

Thrown into a school of a million nerds
Coming with brick tough teachers who don’t go easy, it’s absurd
They hand us an essay and expect it to be done in two seconds flat
And despite the impossibility we still do it fast as lightning, rats
The halls are like the Labyrinth that Theseus fought through
With his sweat and tears, and probably in the middle he caught the flu
We, students, are like Theseus the warrior
Scrambling through the trillions of steps like huge elephants, careful not to bump into a grouchy senior
Once on a trip to the demon’s lair
Whose name I don’t dare utter or mumble because of her infamous glare
I told my legs to stop shaking and bravely took a tiny step
And after three seconds of quick sentences I decided I should leave before she breathed fire, yep
Once a girl bellowed out that she was in grade nine
She had pretty hair, it shined really fine
And proceeded to scream about the twenty essays and ten reports and seven homeworks and nine tests she had to do
The juniors, including me, ignored her despair because we were too busy working on our Junior Thesis that was due
The sophomores paid her no attention either, because grade ten is harsher
And the giant seniors weren’t even there to care
I complain about my school every six minutes, I know

But if you tell me to quit yapping you will definitely earn an angry no

Hyperbole Poem by Mr Raymir
The library is a place of joy and peace
Children come to read and they learn with ease
The temperature is as cold as a Popsicle freshly freezed
Be sure to always come in with a fleece

Books flood the shelves like water in a hurricane
The children read books and stuff their brains
Bunches and bundles of knowledge is what they retain

Tuesday through Saturday and they’ll be back again

Plant Ego Tripping
--after Nikki Giovanni
by Ms. Jane
I am the morning glory that defies logic and landscaping,
I am the trees that grow up through abandoned carnival buildings
I am the cracked seed in the bird’s belly.
I am the thirsty mutant weeds of Monsanto’s nightmares.
I am full of stored nutrients and hungry for dirt.
I am the earthworm in the rotting leaves, chewing without teeth.

I am the vines twining the last thing left.
